Jays is always great! We did not have a long wait and were seated right away on a Saturday night. Have been coming here for years and will continue to come.

This J. Alexander's location has quickly become my favorite, mostly because of the consistently excellent service. While many flock to J. Alexander for their steaks, I'm all about the crab cakes! They're packed with lump crab and have the perfect balance of flavors--absolutely delicious. If you're a fan of cocktails, definitely try their signature lemon drops; they're refreshing and just the right amount of tart. And if you have any room left, the carrot cake is a must. Honestly, I'd come just for that alone--it's hands down the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this spot!

They were out of at least 3 items II wanted to start with. Service was excellent although it was busy. Very busy on a Thursday very crowded. Steak was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed my visit it's been some years 15 or more since my last visit. Left very happy

The steak was very delicious as well as the fries, they are quite thin, thinner than McDonald's but still good. Steak had a buttery sauce on it that complemented the steak. 8/10 steak only bc the fat was not really cooked well but I ordered it medium rare.

I think this was my third time here - this location has been here forever. The first time was when I was a kid, the second time was maybe 10 years ago with friends, and tonight was a double date with my fiance, a friend, and her husband. I ordered the steak and fries, and it was very good. I ordered it medium rare and it seemed cooked the way I ordered it. The fries were a little salty but overall very good. I went to use the restroom near the end of the meal and unfortunately the rest of my fries got taken away, but when we mentioned it they brought me a huge pile of fresh fries. For dessert my fiance and I split the carrot cake - I'm not a big carrot cake fan but apparently the restaurant is famous for theirs. It was pretty good, it is served warm and with more of a sauce than an icing, as you can see in the photo. Waitservice was also very good, she checked on us a decent amount of times. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 5 minutes. The place was packed since it was a Saturday night so I would definitely recommend a reservation. One of our friends pointed out that West Bloomfield doesn't really have a lot of fine dining places so I think that's why it was so busy (as compared to the Troy location). That being said, I thought the food was good but it was a bit pricey for what you get - my fiance's Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, with fries, was $18; my steak and fries was $35; and the carrot cake was $10, which IMO was reasonable. Overall I would come back here again if others suggest it, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to go, even though my fiance lives down the street.

You want good food, good drinks and a good atmosphere? This is your place. It's located in the out-lot of a strip mall at the intersection at Orchard Lake and 14 Mile Roads with plenty of private parking in an adjacent lot. I almost always sit at the bar. The bartenders not only mix great cocktails but the service is top tier too. Cindy's lemon drop is everyone's fave with the side car that's a whole nother drink (be sure to switch up the base spirit if you like), but they have good long pours on everything. The food is tasty and consistent - you get what you know and love every single time. They also have daily specials that never disappoint. This J Alex gives club vibes on the weekend. On weekend nights starting on Thursday it is packed, so bring your patience and expect a wait for a seat. But go.... you will love it.

If you want a place to quickly seat, good service and really good American food, this is the spot! The service was very welcoming and accommodating. We were sat very quickly I wanted an ice tea and the waitress offered to put prickly pear syrup mixed in which was very yummy! She offered suggestions on what to eat and was very kind. My favorite part was the food! We got the chicken tender dinner and bang bang shrimp. The shoe string fries were very crispy. The mac and cheese had a velvety cheesy consistency with a crispy bread crumb topping. They had a variety of sauces for the chicken which all were very good and flavorful. The chicken was tender and crispy. The bang bang shrimp had a delicious savory slightly spicy sauce on it mixed with peppers. The restaurant itself was very clean and nicely decorated! It's a very casual spot but has very nice decor at the same time. The set up of the dining area is nicely done and has lots of room for people or big parties. There's also a stand alone bar off to the side with seating and high top tables.
